Cupping

Cupping seems like a new fad to new people, however this technique has been around for some time. It dates back to ancient Egyptian, Chinese, and Middle Eastern cultures. Actually one of the oldest medical textbooks in the world, the Ebers papyrus, describes how ancient Egyptians used cupping therapy in 1,550 B.C. How cool!

What is cupping for? Cupping is a technique in which your practitioner places glass/plastic cups on the skin, then the air is sucked out of the cupping causing a vacuum-like sensation inside the cup with the skin rising upwards. This causes an increased blood flow to the given area, which can help aid your body’s healing. This technique is also great for helping to break up adhesions that form between the muscle and fascia, which is common with chronic injuries or pain. A cupping session lasts between 3-15 minutes, depending on the level of care needed.
